Welcome to Grand View Canine Care!
A family-run business with roots that began on a small dairy farm in the hills of Arkport, NY. At Grand View Canine Care spoiling the dogs is the main objective. They offer grooming, boarding, walking, and doggy daycare. The business started out of their homes and grew from there, they take great pride in maintaining the small, family run vibe. The owners also help other shelters and rescues whenever they can, when they have an opening for boarding/daycare they steal a dog that needs a little extra love from the Hornell Area Humane Society to spend the day with them.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever had a client do for you?
Recently a dog had to board with us because his owner lost her home in a bizarre accident. We had some amazing clients offer to pitch in for boarding fees, food, and to get the dog neutered!
What tool/equipment/or other vendor could you not imagine doing business without?
Loyal Learners for dog training. We learn so much from her and refer our clients to her for classes!
When did you know you wanted to go into this business?
My first foster dog was an older girl we named Marshmellow Maddie. (Her owner, bless her heart, had a tendency to use marshmallows for treats…making for a very loved but very round little pup!) Seeing my own dogs interact with this dog and feeling how awesome it was to help/love/learn from her got me thinking about dog sitting in my own home. My mom and i had actually both avoided getting back in the animal field as we thought there was no future there. But when you do what you love and are surrounded by folks who support your dream anything is possible!
What other local business do you just LOVE? Why?
Gosh, there are too many to count but Brandy’s Cup of Joe and Loyal Learners we have done joint contests with them on facebook which is always fun. We also enjoy shopping at and referring people to Over The Bridge Pet Supplies for pet supplies.
What are you passionate about outside of your business?
Fostering dogs, lost dog behavior, and rescue work.
Describe your PERFECT day…
Early morning sunrise walks with our furry guests, catching up on my work over a cup of coffee with my pups snuggled in beside me, a few grooms (especially giant breed dogs..We love giant breeds!), then a nice relaxing afternoon filled with fun playgroups and more walks in the woods!
Where do you see the business in 10 years?
We really want to build a daycare facility and create more spaces for dogs to decompress and de-stress!
Patricia, my mom is the kindest and hardest working person you will ever meet! A graduate of Morrisville and Cornell University, she also really knows her animal science! Mom actually grew up on a horse farm, ran our family dairy farm, and is now the heart and soul of this business.
My dad and my husband help too with walking, cleaning, and keeping us organized!
I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet shelter pup (photo below) yesterday during my visit at Grand View Canine Care, she was there for a day of daycare. Meet Kardi, she’s an adorable little ball of muscle (only about 50 lbs) who would love an active family, but she is also extremely affectionate and would love to snuggle on a couch! You can help Grand View Canine Care continue to “jailbreak” these shelter dogs by donating to the “Grand View Canine Camp Fund”.

We’re having fun giving these pups a break, learning a lot, and hopefully helping to spread the word about them too!
